Transnet is excited to announce the opening of applications for the CA Trainee Programme at the Transnet Corporate Centre in Esselenpark. This is an exceptional opportunity for aspiring accountants to develop their careers in a leading South African transport and logistics company.

Position Purpose
The CAT Programme at Transnet is a comprehensive three-year Learnership designed for candidates who have completed an accredited post-graduate qualification or equivalent. The programme adheres to the stringent requirements of SAICA, ensuring that trainees receive extensive training in the following areas:
- Financial Management
- Management Decision Making
- Financial Accounting
- Internal Audit & Corporate Governance
- Auditing & Assurance
- Taxation
All new trainees will be trained and assessed in line with the SAICA CA 2025 framework, focusing on integrated thinking and digital acumen while promoting the integration of technical and professional competencies. The programme also emphasizes essential professional values, attitudes, and enabling competencies such as ethics, citizenship, lifelong learning, business acumen, decision-making, and both relational and digital acumen.
Trainees will rotate through different functions in the head office and various operating divisions, including Transnet Freight Rail, Transnet Properties, and Transnet Engineering. These rotations will be tailored to meet the needs of both the trainees and the respective operating divisions, in accordance with the minimum requirements set by the Transnet SAICA Training Programme.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- An accredited post-graduate qualification in Accounting Science or Financial Accounting.
- Current final-year CTA students are also encouraged to apply.
- Applications must be accompanied by a CV and certified copies of the following documents:

- Proof of final-year CTA university registration
