The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) invites dynamic, strategic leaders to apply for the Chief Operations Officer (COO) position. Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and support key departments, including Human Resources, IT, and Communications, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals.
- Operations Management: Oversee the CGE’s operations, ensuring day-to-day management aligns with the organization’s strategic direction.
- Performance Planning: Develop, implement, and monitor the organization’s annual performance plans and ensure resource management within the allocated budget.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, including the PFMA and Treasury regulations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with key stakeholders, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
- Transformation: Act as a catalyst for change, driving the organization’s transformation and delivering innovative service solutions.
Key Requirements:
- South African Citizen.
- Educational Qualifications: Master of Business Administration (MBA), LLM, or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 9).
- Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years in senior management roles within a human rights environment OR 3 years in executive management within human rights bodies.
- Expertise in human rights, law, social sciences, communications, IT, and organizational development is highly desirable.
- Desirable Training: Training in good governance.
- Leadership Qualities: Proven ability to lead transformational initiatives, manage teams, and drive organizational success through clear vision and effective action.

- Problem-Solving: Expertise in resolving complex operational and strategic challenges.

- Compliance & Legal Knowledge: Understanding of constitutional law, gender equality, and relevant legal prescripts.
- Change Management: Skilled in guiding teams through organizational change and adapting strategies as necessary.
